Requirements for

Advancement from Level 1

The Triangle Exercise (Sapu/Besset)

Foot should sweep completely around the triangle on a Sapu.

Back Sweep should be done beginning at the hip, and simply extending to the foot (sliding backward to the third point on the triangle.

Langka Nol

New Form for American KunTao Silat developed by Sigung Aric Fowler. It is basically form 0, before Djuru Satu. The form incorporates the key components of the handwork and legwork in level 1 and 2 of the American KunTao Silat system.This is the disciple level form which demonstrates the student's understanding of the absolute basics of the American and Malabar KunTao Silat systems.

Chi Kung should be present throughout the form, with breathing (if sound in video), dynamic tension with the centering posture, and hand being flat on the floor on Diving for Needles (to show flexibility).

All movement should show intent and purpose.

Advancement from Level 2

The Serak Djurus 1-8

Each Djurus performed from Front, Right, AND Left Side View.

Intent and Purpose in each movement.

Eyes forward as though looking at opponent.

Each Djurus performed.

On Video, identify the Djurus, then perform the application making it clear where the application is coming from.

 It may be necessary to shoot from more than one angle. If so, please identify before performing the application.

One unique application from each Djurus. 

All movement should show intent and purpose.

Requirements for

Advancement from Level 3

First Form Having practiced the stances and hand movements from Level One, the student now begins to study traditional choreographed form which carries the combat knowledge from the Indonesian lineage and provides a means of personal practice any where and any time. Djurus Satu is very direct, explosive and offensive. The best defense being a strong offense, Djurus Satu teaches effective self defense understanding and training. A DVD is available for this level.

Advancement from Level 4

The Flower Non-confrontation is always the most effective way to deal with aggression. It takes longer to develop and even longer to refine, so the student receives the initial training early in their KunTao Silat development. A DVD is available at www.kuntaosilat.net for more information.

 

Djurus / Langka Dua

Djurus Dua performed at speed from Front View and Rear View.

Intent and Purpose in each movement.

Requirements for

Advancement from Level 5

Lankas Tiga is also referred to as Lankas Monjet {monkey} and incorporates the circular motions and energies similar to Pa Qua except lower to the ground and with different tactics for application This is a very demanding and difficult form to master.

Langka Tiga Applications

Perform Five Applications from the djurus portion of the Langka Dua form, identifying where each application comes from. 

At least two of the applications should be based off of the spinning        aspect of the form.

At least two applications should be based off of the ’Awfully Sudden   Changes’.

At least one application to include the leaping in the form.

Requirements for

Advancement from Level 6

The Tiger With the leg strength now developed, the Tiger provides hitting, grappling, tearing, ripping and smashing techniques and training methods and another style of applying the legwork. DVD available in January 2008.

Pai Yun

Requirements for

Advancement from Level 7

Preying Mantis Precision hitting and furious speed are now added to the student's arsenal of martial skills. Timing, precision and control are honed in this level, in preparation for Level Seven. DVD available in February 2008.
